Summary:

The Technical Sales Instruction Supervisor is responsible for the effective management and utilization of the Business Development Center (BDC).  The Supervisor is accountable for facility budgeting, employee supervision, building maintenance, and scheduling/delivering training classes for regional markets.  The Supervisor will work closely with curriculum coordinators and regional sales teams to develop training programs that provide our customers with a better understanding of our products, programs and value-added services to increase our sales potential.

 
Key Responsibilities:


Training Facility Management & Alignment

  • Oversees all operations of a Business Development Center (BDC) to include local building maintenance, training inventories and related budget activities.
  • Ensures local training activities are aligned with regional sales needs.
  • Ensures high utilizing of facility/instructor assets by planning, driving and conducting training that enhances the regions sales growth and customer relations.
  • Oversees facility safety, EHS compliance and other facility personnel.
Training
  • Serves as an advanced instructor in the delivery of quality training via lecture and demonstration to customers.
  • Delivers training via multimedia presentation and hands-on application of PPG products and related equipment utilization.
  • Ensures self and other instructors’ classes are resourced and tailored to customer needs.
  • Travel could be as much as 50%. Travel locations may be domestic or international.
Sales Support
  • Support sales activities in the assigned geographic region to enhance sales growth of PPG products.
  • Assist with marketing efforts during regional blitzes, surveys and complaint resolution with customers.
  • Work closely with local Zone Sales Mgr., Regional Sales Manager, Territory Managers, Commercial sales personnel and PPG Distributors to support growth in assigned area.
  • Some assignments will require travel and work outside of local area such as any location in North America.  Special assignments could require travel to South America, Europe, Africa, Asia or Australia.
Customer Support
  • Serve as a local point of contact for questions relating to PPG products and product application for internal and external customers.
  • Provide expert technical product and related equipment assistance to jobbers, shops and salespeople.
  • Assign customer support duties to trainers and admins that report to you.
  • Product & Equipment Analysis
  • Participate in field trials of new, existing or modified products and related equipment for PPG and competitors.
  • Provide feedback to internal customers such as Product Managers, Marketing or Technical regarding product and market analysis.
Personal Development
  • Continually maintain and enhance personal knowledge as it relates to the curriculum and market.
  • Hone training skills and knowledge base to provide quality training as well as provide feedback to curriculum developers.
  • Modify training to meet customer’s requirements.
  • Facilitate operations, schedules and budgets of a training facility (BDC).
  • Manage all activities in compliance with the PPG Blueprint objectives, EHS goals, quality, business conduct and code of ethics policies.
  • Attend supervisory training.
Develop others
  • Perform required PLP processes with subordinates.
  • Facilitate evaluating and scheduling of technical training and personal development of subordinates.
  • Manage schedule and development of sales trainees when necessary.
  • Manage performance of subordinates.
Experience Requirements:
  • 5 years of experience in the automotive refinish field including refinish paint systems (PPG, Nexa Autocolor, etc.) is required.
  • Previous presentation or training experience is preferred.
  • A valid passport is required.
  • Ability to speak/read/write Spanish is highly preferred.

Functional & Technical Skills:

  • Fluency in English 
  • Oral & written skills in Spanish or French is desired depending on assignment.
