Commercial Refinish Technical Services Supervisor

Main Activities/Duties/Responsibilities:

This position will lead the Technical Services team for Refinish Commercial Coatings. S/he plans, implements and maintains “value-added” services and takes action to ensure technical problem resolution is done in a timely and accurate manner. 

Principle Accountabilities:
  • Provides leadership for laboratory work supporting customers as well as technical support to the sales force (CTMs & CZMs) and the Commercial sales team. S/he will spend 30 – 50% of the time focused on direct customer contact.
  • Serves as a facilitator to customers in terms of coatings efficiency, application techniques and application equipment
  • Functions as a liaison among the customer, the Development team, sales personnel, marketing and manufacturing.
  • Supports warranty programs by reviewing customer’s procedures and performing audits and suggest warranty changes as necessary.  Team will assist in warranty claim investigation and perform upfront testing of systems on customer substrates given customer conditions.
  • Ensures the team is up-to-date on the latest technologies, practices, procedures and equipment.
  • Adheres to corporate policies and government regulations by compliance with established standards on business conduct, environmental issues, EEO and safety.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or biochemistry
  • 5+ years of experience in the coatings industry with a proven track record in customer satisfaction, technical services or product development.
  • Advanced knowledge of finishes, processes, application techniques, formulations, equipment and testing procedures.Strong problem solving, presentation and time management skills.
  • Prior supervisory experience--Preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel
  • Travel  approximately 25% (domestic and international)
