PPG's Strongsville, Ohio, plant manufactures automotive primer and specialty powder coatings for industrial markets. The plant began operation in 1988 and houses PPG's automotive powder, refinish and corporate purchasing groups. The Distribution Coordinator Performs all necessary clerical and support for shipping and inventory functions.


Shift:   9:30PM to 6:00AM, M-F

 

Main Activities/Key Responsibilities:
  • Initiates computer generated address labels for all shipments. Handles advance shipping notice transactions to customers, which includes a complete working knowledge of Oracle application for the shipping and receiving functions.
  • Contacts carriers to schedule shipments and provides carriers with necessary pickup and delivery information.
  • Candidates must be knowledgeable with inter-company departments to ensure accurate up-to-date shipping information for carriers; distributes and oversees workflow and communicates to other PPG location associates.
  • The position requires candidate to contribute to maintaining a high level of 5S in work area.
  • There is a probability that this candidate will need to work weekends periodically, and the shift is overnight.
Education & Experience Necessary
 
  • High School Diploma/GED, with good math and grammar skills.
  • Computer data entry experience is required with high level of accuracy.
  • Previous shipping/clerical experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Oracle a plus
  • Candidate needs to be tactful and courteous in dealing with representatives of outside carriers. Strong interpersonal communication skills desired
  • Detail oriented
  • Incumbent should have strong organizational skills with a high degree of flexibility and an ability to establish priorities and accomplish a variety of duties in a timely manner with minimum supervision.
  • Training, testing, and certification of proficiency in Dept. of Transportation regulations relating to warehouse distribution functions are preferred
 
Functional/Technical Expertise Necessary
 
  • Warehouse/Distribution experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel required Oracle a plus
  • Good communication skills required
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to a fast paced environment
