Key Responsibilities
  • Recommend effective procedures for safe use.
  • Oversee the industrial hygiene monitoring process and implements any required procedural changes.
  • Oversee the preparation of required environmental reports in accordance with Federal, State, and Corporate requirements/regulations.
  • Serve a Lead investigator for incident investigations.
  • Oversee activities of behavioral based safety, ergonomic, and site safety teams.
  • Organize and maintain the various required EH&S training programs including, OSHA, RCRA, PSM, and emergency response.
  • Oversee the environmental issues, ensuring all compliance is met with Federal, State, and Corporate regulations related to environmental, health, and safety.
  • Key member of the Houston site’s Leadership Team and participate in key business strategic initiatives, quality initiatives, community communications, and focused efforts with various steering committees.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations relating to PPG’s Corporate EH&S relating to Safety and the Environment.
  • Advise and assist Houston site management with technical proficiency combining a broad understanding of environmental, health and safety with ultimate regard for the operational environment.
  • Develop and implement programs to reduce EHS risks and to comply with regulatory and PPG corporate requirements.
  • Oversee the workers’ compensation program and works with site management, Health Services, and EHS professionals to track injuries and illnesses including follow-up with injured employees to develop corrective actions. 
  • Oversee the PPE program, and meet 5S goals in areas where responsible.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Five to ten years of experience in progressive EHS leadership roles in a manufacturing facility. 
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and consensus standards (OSHA, EPA, DOT, NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA), inspection procedures, incident prevention, incident investigation techniques, and safety and environmental education and training.
  • Prefer bi-lingual in English and Spanish.
