Responsible for supporting the GAMT Group by providing PPG Aerospace with concepts, designs, analysis, and development of mechanical or structural products, including parts and components as required. Incumbent will work in a team effort environment to produce drawings accurately and consistently dimensioned in the manner prescribed by company standards. Incumbent maintains knowledge of industry codes, code conforming components, raw materials, valves, connectors, and common manufacturing, fabrication, finishing, and assembly techniques used by the PPG and the GAMT Group. Performs basic and advanced Computer aided calculations to assure materials are sized properly to standards and applies “Design for Manufacturing" guidelines to company standards in all design performed. The incumbent will play a key role in project identification and the process of taking a project from conceptual conversation to completion with implementation, training, service literature, parts lists, schematics, training manuals and any value added hands on activities when warranted and required

 
Principle Accountabilities include:

Incumbent will Support, as required: specific product and program issues, analyze research & test data and proposed project specifications to determine feasibility of the project and recommended pathways. Evaluates engineering test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses, and actively leads/participates in design and manufacturing/fabrication of prototype products or systems. The incumbent will also interface with leadership and other GAMT personnel as required; create accurate and detailed work instructions and drawings, write and maintain shared project documentation and schedules, troubleshoot issues in manufacturing. Analyze and resolve design & manufacturing related issues and communicate directly with the required personnel for resolution if required.

Requires:

BS degree, Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent work experience, certifications / training a plus.
Must have robotics & PLC experience.
Proficiency with Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Software, SolidWorks, CAD and Catia. Candidate must have excellent communication skills and interactive abilities and must be able to travel up to 25% with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to wear required PPE, when applicable, with or without reasonable accommodation.
