PPG is currently hiring for a seasoned executive leader to join our Industrial Segment team as the Global Engineering Leader. Reporting to the Global Asset Management Director, you are responsible to drive results in the global engineering standards and controls teams for the Industrial Segment Coatings.  This position will play in integral role throughout all plants and will be responsible for designing, managing and implementing process control projects to continually improve productivity, product consistency, quality, cost, reliability and safety.  In this position, the incumbent will work on a regular basis with the Global Capital Project Execution Leader, and the Industrial Segment Operations team and their reports.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Maintain and lead current capital project portfolio and ensure on time, on budget, per scope.
  • Build overall Business Technology Plans and rolled up Unit Technology Plans.
  • Define and integrate global engineering team versus local plant and regional leads with regional manufacturing directors
  • Serve as relationship manager for EPC and Controls third parties
  • Work with procurement to maximize e-procurement and other cost reduction strategies
  • Lead Engineering Discipline and Controls leads to maintain best in class designs that meet regulatory requirements and optimize on total cost of ownership
  • Define resourcing needs for Engineering and Project support for Industrial Segment.  Maintain cost effective balance of internal and external resources to execute plans.

  • BS/BA in Engineering or related field.
  • At least 10 years’ experience working in the Chemical Industry in a Leadership role, with demonstrated success is a requirement to be successful in this role. Specifically, experience in chemical manufacturing—batch and continuous operations, capital project execution, process development, and/or new product introduction is preferred.
  • Experience with Engineering Discipline standards and committees for Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical Reliability and Controls Hardware and Software.
  • Familiar with the assessments, KPIs associated with, and improvement plans derived from IPA.
  • Fluent in DMAIC/DFSS project execution.
  • Fluent in new product/process introduction work processes.

  • Successful candidate should be comfortable working in a matrix organization and getting results through sound decision making and good judgement.
  • Candidate must be able to manage a team of managers that are globally located.
  • Proven track record of managing projects and driving change using data analytics.
  • Proven self-motivated driver to bring initiatives to closure.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills and comfortable giving presentations.
  • Candidate should have a strong bent for action and an ability to create and implement action plans to drive performance improvement.
  • Candidate must demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail and managing complexity.
  • Candidate will need to work collaboratively with all business units and corporate functions.
  • Candidate will must have flexibility to for international travel- up to 25% (Europe, Asia and Americas).
