Main Activities/Duties/Responsibilities:


Seeking a person to lead an Analytical team of 8-12 technical experts that develop and implement analytical methods to drive new product development, address customer problems, and support regulatory requests.  S/He will be responsible to plan, implement and provide value-added services and to ensure technical problem resolution is done in a timely, cost effective and accurate manner. S/He will play a vital role in the overall safety of the lab.


 


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Analytical Skills:  The ideal candidate will have experience with PPG products.  Analytical experience with spectroscopy techniques (NMR, MS, IR) is preferred.

  2. Technical Leadership:  This candidate will be responsible for:

    1. Ensuring a high-level technical expertise in the area of chromatography, which will include ensuring high quality results.

    2. Identification and implementation of novel analytical methods to help solve problems and support new product development

    3. Providing support for regulatory requests, including implementation of methods needed to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

  3. Management:  This candidate will be responsible for managing a team of 8-12 technical experts.  The candidate will be responsible for training, safety, reviews, and goal settings of direct reports as well as day-to-day laboratory functions. S/He must have a demonstrated history of problem solving expertise and resource management skills, in addition to having excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  This candidate will be responsible for the development of the team members.  They must demonstrate the strong leadership skills needed to attract, retain and develop top talent for PPG.

     


    Minimum Requirements:

     

  • Bachelor Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or other appropriate area with 10-15 years, a PhD with 5-10 years
  • Prior supervisory experience of technical experts
