Human Resources Communications Manager

The HR Communications Manager will craft the human resources brand and develop the communication and listening strategy for the HR function. You will influence company wide communications and develop and execute communications for audiences on a wide variety of HR-related messages, programs, policies, and initiatives both internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with and mentoring HR functional teams to support the most critical messaging and appropriate communication methods.
  • Develop communications strategies and lead implementation of tactics for all internal and external communications. Review and develop new communications channels, including new media, digital tools, to reach targeted audiences.
  • Provide direct support to the CHRO to help build and establish the key messages for HR and several areas such as talent, recruitment, culture, DE&I, employer brand, among others.
  • Protect PPG’s corporate brand and increase employee trust through the development and coordination of a robust communications program crafted to establish a compelling workplace story to promote and advance the company globally.
  • Establish an HR calendar and cadence of communications based on annual processes. Consolidate all communications from HR to the intended audience and provide the appropriate channel for information to be received and acted upon.
  • Direct the employee communications activities of the company, including developing and producing ongoing print and electronic communications, and providing counsel and communications support for workplace-related changes and announcements.
  • Provide crisis communications support on an as needed basis.
  • Own the development of the HR brand as a competitive advantage through connections that engage PPG employees.
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing, CSR, Brand, Customer Engagement and Social Media teams to build a coordinated and consistent voice for the company.
  • Focus on the customer experience – design communications in ways that put our customers first, i.e. speak in terms that resonate with leaders and employees.
  • Use technology to improve our communications to provide just-in-time information.


  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience planning, developing and executing communications including board-ready presentation materials preferred
  • Proven experience in message development and communications strategy development and execution
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) required
  • Proficiency in social media and experience with content development for Intranet sites required
  • Excellent interpersonal and writing skills, including speeches, presentations (visuals and graphic design), talking points, internal company communications, etc. (candidates will be required to share writing samples).
