Experience and Education
 
The incumbent must be a high school graduate and have completed high school chemistry.  However college education is preferred.  Proficiency in mathematics, which includes percentages, ratios, and simple algebra, required for formula calculation.  Familiarity with laboratory apparatus / laboratory environment is desirable.  Mechanical aptitude is desirable.
 
 
Functional and Technical Skills
 
The incumbent deals daily with hazardous chemicals.  Attention to detail and the ability to follow direction are very important to the safety of this individual and others.  Milling equipment, air motors and spray booths may cause high noise levels.  Handling of 55 gallon drums and raw materials up to 50# is required.  Employee shares an office with other DSL team members.  Position requires shift work as the Dispersion Science Lab operates 24 hours per day five days per week. 
 
 
Success Factors/Functional Competencies
 
DSL Scale-Up Technicians work with every other group in the facility as well as other facilities and both customers and suppliers.  Courtesy, tact, discretion and persuasion are required attributes on a daily basis.
 
DSL Scale-Up technicians work in a team environment.  Must know and observe proper personal safety protection for all materials and equipment used in the laboratory.  Must support company EEO, business conduct, safety policies and programs.
