Liquid Industrial Coatings HDE Supervisor

Based at the Oak Creek, Wisconsin plant the Liquid Industrial Coatings HDE Supervisor will manage and lead the liquid coatings HDE technical team to develop and test new ideas/products directed at improving coatings properties to add value through improved performance, reduced cost or improved efficiency in manufacturing, or application.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and grow a highly engaged team through example, development, and coaching
  • Interact with external customers in terms of coatings efficiency, application techniques and application equipment
  • Build and maintain a network with commercial and technical teams to communicate progress on projects and understand future needs
  • Provide support through quick response to the manufacturing team and QC in order to meet OTIF goals for Oak Creek
  • Demonstrates ability to independently, prioritize, plan and coordinate technical activities of other HDE team members
  • Proven ability to solve problems through the application of knowledge of appropriate scientific, experimental, and statistical methods
  • Maintain a clear and up to date understanding of the technical literature and the competitive intellectual property
  • Strong impact on technical results. Consult with field technical service personnel.
  • Develop a personal network with other functions within Oak Creek and externally with other PPG locations/SBUs


Experience and Education


  • Bachelor Degree in chemistry or chemical engineering
  • 3- 7 years of experience in the paint coatings industry with a proven track record in customer satisfaction, problem solving, multi-tasking, coatings development/launch, and people development
  • Prior supervisory experience is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of solvent-based technology including 2K urethanes, 2K epoxy, and melamine cross-linked coatings, processes, application techniques, formulations, equipment and testing procedures
  • Strong problem solving, presentation and time management skills.
  • Oracle ERP experience is a plus
