The Liquid Warehouse Manager is responsible for directing the safe and efficient operation of the raw materials warehouse facility.  The warehouse is staffed by a combination of PPG personnel and third-party labor vendor personnel.  Responsibility also includes the effective utilization of third-party warehouse facilities off site and collaboration with other PPG warehouse operations.

Operations at the facility include raw material unloading and receiving, sampling of containers for quality analysis and approval, put away into storage locations, picking of material for specific production batches, weighing and assembling material into palletized kits, and transportation of material from the warehouse to the main production area.  Additional activities include picking and packaging of raw materials for shipment to other PPG and customer facilities, filling small quantity orders to support product development lab needs, and moving material to replenish high volume material supermarkets at the manufacturing site.  Cycle counting is performed on an ongoing basis, and physical inventory is performed as required.

Key Accountabilities: 
  • Lead the implementation of PPG’s Environmental, Health, and Safety Management System in the facility.
  • Protect employees from injury and health hazards.
  • Protect the environment and community we operate on.
  • Comply with all PPG and government regulations.
  • Identify and reduce the risk of EHS incidents through continuous improvement activity. 
  • Provide the correct materials to internal and external customers, on time and in full.
  • Planning and scheduling all activity at the warehouse in an effective manner.
  • Manage relationship with 3rd party labor providers to create a collaborative and mutually beneficial business model.
  • Meet cost targets for operation and 3rd party labor and warehousing.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement activity using the principles of Lean Six Sigma.
  • This includes 5S, standard work, visual controls, Kaizen events, process and value stream mapping, and application of other appropriate tools.
  • Ensure warehouse facility is well maintained, organized, and professional.
  • Utilizes support of maintenance/engineering personnel and outside contractors as required to sustain and improve operations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business related field OR
  • 1-3 minimum years of experience working in industrial manufacturing, supply chain, and/or related fields.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership position with direct reports and accountability to site management.
  • Certification at some level in Lean Six Sigma or APICS with practical application experience is desired. 
Functional Skills:
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively utilize ERP systems (Oracle) and Warehouse Management Systems. 
  • Proficiency in utilizing MS Office standard programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze data, transforming it into actionable information.
  • Solid decision making and ability to manage complexity.
  • Able to effectively motivate and manage performance of personnel.
