Education & Experience Necessary
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with 8 to 10 years’ relevant experience, preferably in paint manufacture and paint technology.
  • He/she must be thoroughly familiar with automotive topcoat manufacturing processes and testing methods (preferred) or chemical manufacturing.
  • The incumbent must be familiar with analytical wet and dry methods of analysis along with methods and principles of Quality Assurance including statistical quality measurement techniques, Problem solving methodologies.
 
Functional/Technical Expertise Necessary
  • Support/Improve Plant Safety Initiatives
  • Lead and Maintain the Quality Improvement Process and drive continuous improvement culture working better today than yesterday
  • Manage quality organization by creating a strong and effective work environment while investing in employees
  • Oversee physical testing and color shading function of Automotive coatings manufacturing
  • Interact with customers and PPG service employees at customer sites to improve quality of products creating mutual value for our customers
  • Interact with on-site PPG Technical team to create/enhance efficient and quality oriented formulas and test methods utilizing Lean Problem Solving methodologies
  • Minimize cycle time of testing/color shading process driving samples per batch reduction initiatives in the team
  • Lead/direct troubleshooting of problem batches and facilitate communications as needed to ensure on time delivery of quality products
  • Work with Cleveland Production Management and Supervision to create/enhance production methods to improve product quality
  • Must be able to deal effectively with all levels of management, as well as customers and suppliers, in order to maintain performance and quality standards of the manufacturing operation.
  • Must possess good communications and motivational skills together with resourcefulness, courtesy and tact.
