Position Overview


  • Strategic and high impact role to accelerate the competitiveness of sourced packaging for PPG. This through delivering step-change productivity and innovation


  • Individual will develop in-depth market knowledge and manage supplier relationships to deliver appropriate solutions for both B2B and B2C end users


  • Procurement representative for a major business unit within the region. Able to interact at the execute level and balance requests to and from procurement


  • Requires excellent commercial skills and the ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives within a complex business environment


  • Leadership development position with the potential to move to a commercial management role within PPG

     

     

     

     

    Performance Achievements (first 6-12 months)


  • Develop a thorough understanding of end customer requirements and the PPG business strategy and challenges associated with the portfolio


  • Complete an in-depth analysis of the supply market over the 3 to 5 year horizon. This including an assessment of the supplier capabilities, costs and potential risks


  • Publish an aligned and challenging sourcing strategy that meets the needs of the individual business units and leverages the full buying strength of PPG


  • Deliver value through negotiations and actively develop and manage a robust pipeline of commercial and technical projects that require cross-functional teams


  • Identify strategic and critical suppliers and implement and maintain appropriate relationship management and contracting practices


  • Actively represent procurement on a business leadership team. Requires savvy account management with executives to balance requests to and from the business




Key Competence Requirements


  • 10 years industry experience with at least 5 years within commercial positions. Prior packaging field and/or in B2C experience preferred, though not essential.


  • Excellent commercial skills. Has the business acumen, networking and interpersonal skills to develop ‘One PPG’ leverage and to drive value from suppliers


  • Critical thinker who can handle complexity and develop and present clear, concise and actionable strategies


  • Structured with the ability to implement change through strong project management and manage performance through continuous improvement techniques


  • Proactive communicator with the ability to influence at the executive level. Candidate must be fluent in English and preferably French also.


  • Able to effectively adapt, collaborate and execute within a global environment across a diversity of cultures


  • Future leadership potential within or outside of procurement. Mobility within the next 3 to 5 years is preferred
