PPG is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor at our Cleveland Plant for the production of our automotive coatings. This requires the ability to supervise the daily activities of production area to ensure that EHS, volume, cost, and quality standards are achieved. 

In this role, you will drive activities related to the shift's performance. This requires coordinating work schedules, staffing requirements, and production sequences to maximize productivity. You are responsible to focus on driving EHS culture and values throughout the department and Cleveland organization. Additionally, you will identify problems related to production process and provide production reports to assist process improvement. You will supervise a group of production associates in a manufacturing environment characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. You will help contribute to the development of processes and procedures with your experience and knowledge.

Main Activities / Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct production and quality activities to meet safety, quality standards, and delivery dates
  • Support and advocate for the group’s Vision and Mission
  • Use Lean Manufacturing tools to continuously improve the team
Shifts available: Either Sunday night to Friday morning (10:00 pm - 6:30am) OR, Monday to Friday (2:00 pm - 10:30 pm)

Education & Experience Necessary

  • HS Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or related Technical Degree preferred.
  • This position requires a broad understanding of manufacturing processes, along with 4+ years’ experience in a supervisory role, with focus on manufacturing processes; batch processing experience preferred.

Functional/Technical Expertise Necessary

  • Candidate must demonstrate a high degree of attention to detail and managing complexity.
  • Experience in training, coaching and mentoring subordinates, as well as, and implementing corrective actions when needed.
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills with ability to be self-motivated and self-directed. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with multiple levels of the organization from shop floor to upper management.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and observing/directing others to meet safety policies required; and, 5S, Lean, Kaizen, Gemba walks, or Six Sigma experience a plus.
