Due to continued growth, Cuming Microwave is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Technician at our Avon, Massachusetts facility. Cuming Microwave is at the forefront of innovative microwave absorber technology and materials for the RF Electromagnetic Interference, Radar Cross Section Reduction and Anechoic Chamber markets. From dielectric, artificial dielectrics, radomes, RF absorbers, and anechoic chambers for the international aerospace, electronics, and defense industries. From thin resonant absorption sheets to 12 foot pyramids to radar reflectors for mach speed aircraft; from do-it-yourself anechoic test chambers to turnkey anechoic chambers, Cuming Microwave’s engineering staff can support your efforts.

 

Cuming Microwave is ISO 9001 at all manufacturing sites. We are AS 9100 certified within our Aerospace group at 264 Bodwell Street.




DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Ability to read & understand mechanical blue prints/engineering drawings
  • Must be able to consistently produce accurate and clear documentation
  • Understanding of Geometric & Dimensional Tolerancing
  • Create 1st Piece Inspection Files/Data Sheets (Word Process & Spreadsheets)
  • Participate as a team member on Area Improvement Teams
  • Collect and analyze data to drive improvements
  • Develop inspection documents such are Control Plans, PFMEA’s, Final Inspection Documents, In Process Inspection Sheets
  • Conduct Gage R&R studies
  • Perform capability studies
  • Travel to customer or supplier site or meet onsite to address quality issues that may arise.
  • Assist operating personnel in collecting data, constructing control charts, and interpreting control chart information.
  • Perform Training, as required
  • Support QMS activities including:


  • First Article Inspections to AS9102
  • Develop Technical Documentation
  • Corrective / Preventive Actions
  • Internal Audits
  • Material Review Board (MRB)
  • SPC / Metrics
  • Calibration
  • New equipment / product introduction


  • Perform the inspection and testing of products, tooling and raw materials to ensure product conforms to specifications.  Inspections include dimensional, visual, electrical, mechanical, paperwork, detailed First Article inspections, in-process and final inspections.  Complete clear, accurate and detailed records.
  • Work with Production to ensure conformance to requirements and continually improve quality.
  • Read and interpret technical documentation to determine inspection criteria.  Create technical work instructions, forms and test reports as needed.  Technical documentation includes CAD drawings, Process Specifications and Material Specifications.
  • Determine root cause and root cause corrective actions to address issues such as customer complaints and audit findings.
  • Present parts and inspection reports to customer source inspectors when required.

QUALIFICATIONS


 


Strong working knowledge/skills using the following precision measurement:


Tools/Gauges Optical Comparators


Calipers Micrometers


Height gauges Air Gauges


Profilometers CMM (esp. CNC Controlled)


Vision Systems


  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook and ability to type accurately
  • Working knowledge of CAD systems (e.g., AutoCAD, Catia)
  • Strong communication and math skills.
  • The individual may be required to sit or stand for up to multiple hours using their hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear around machinery.
  • The individual must be capable of lifting and moving up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and move up to 30 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus on optical devices. Use of microscopes, magnifiers, and optical comparators will be expected.
  • Tolerance of a manufacturing environment. (e.g. Individuals may work near moving mechanical parts of machinery and electrically activated devices. Individuals are occasionally exposed to airborne particles.)
  • Ability to read and write English
  • Read and interpret manufacturing instructions.
  • Organized and pay close attention to detail
  • Must have good hand dexterity and ability to have steady hands when working on extremely detailed, sensitive projects
  • Must have ability to operate and accurately read measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, scales, optical comparator, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Must have ability to read and interpret CAD drawings
  • Must be able to understand and follow ISO processes
  • Must be willing to take on new assignments/job tasks as the work/department expands
  • Must work well with others and respect coworkers
  • Must be able to attend work free from illegal drugs, alcohol, or drugs that would impair one’s ability to work safely around dangerous, moving equipment


 



EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering is preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with ISO 9001 or AS9100 regulated industry such as Medical, Automotive, Aerospace or Engineering.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt experience preferred
  • Experience working in ISO 9001 or AS9100 regulated industry such as Medical, Automotive, or Aerospace.
  • ASQ Certification
