PPG Aerospace has a job opening for a Raw Materials Operations Specialist. As the Raw Materials Operations Specialist, you will develop and administer an effective commodity and supplier strategy for the procurement of all goods and services in the most cost-effective and timely manner, ensuring quality and delivery consistent with company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Select sources by conducting commodity surveys, interviews, and supplier facility surveys and utilize cross-functional teams, while meeting sourcing initiatives.
  • Gather and present data to suppliers, internal customers, and other PPG managers. Facilitate communication with potential suppliers for the RFQ process and analyze & validate quotes or proposals from suppliers.
  • Coordinate and partner with internal functional teams and preferred suppliers, to identify target costing, project criteria, as well as supplier criteria to help build a robust supplier partnership and supply chain.
  • Negotiate and implement agreements and contracts.
  • Develop, write, and implement annual Procurement Plans to support operational requirements.
  • Facilitate cross-functional support for strategic sourcing decisions.
  • Implement strategies that support Plant, Group, and corporate metrics.
  • Communicate significant market shifts and supplier issues to all internal customers.
  • Interface between the suppliers in the country/region of activity and Group globally to ensure supply quality and compliance with required standards is assured.
  • Collect and analyze diverse and complex financial, historical, and estimated market, cost, and pricing data and trends.
  • Facilitate the development of cost models.
  • Prepare and analyze reports and presentations to facilitate and guide purchasing negotiations on key and critical commodities.
  • Develop and maintain models. Create and maintain databases. Participate in discussions/negotiations. Perform price and cost analysis on vendor proposals or quotes by reviewing in detail significant direct and indirect cost elements for realism and reasonableness. Forecasts price and cost trends, economic factors, and efficiencies in production for different contract performance periods using analytical techniques such as random sampling, and cost modeling. Gain familiarity with Government Cost Accounting Principles and the FAR.
  • Possess intellectual curiosity and drive for continuously improving methods and practices.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing networks, and/or participating in professional associations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (4 years - Accredited College) - Technical Degree preferred.
  • 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in working in engineering and manufacturing positions experience is preferred.
  • Good project management and communication skills.
  • Full proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Skilled in Supplier Management, such as contract management and sourcing process management.
  • Supplier development knowledge is also a plus, (e.g., 6 sigma, PPAP, APQP, etc.).
  • Needs to have experience with international sourcing (e.g., Asia, Mexico, etc.).
  • Must possess knowledge of capital equipment acquisition, consumable supplies, chemicals, polycarbonate, acrylic, machining, casting, turning, and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Some oversea travel required
