Key Responsibilities

 
Effectively plan and execute laboratory work and foster a culture of scientific rigor, high productivity, safety, and open communications.

  • Work collaboratively with the manufacturing team to effectively transfer technology to production scale.

  • Provide guidance and feedback on reaction set-up, safety protocols, analytical interpretation, and troubleshooting/problem to team members as needed.

  • Help team leaders to ensure that there are no misunderstandings or unexpressed difficulties in the process or experiments.  

  • Perform effective, multi-step synthetic planning and reaction optimization,

  • Drive results through deep synthetic and mechanistic knowledge,

  • Utilize literature and scientific databases (SciFinder and Reaxys) for reaction troubleshooting.

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry with postdoctoral or industrial experience in synthetic chemistry or MSc with industry experience in synthetic chemistry.
  • Experience in organometallic, traditional and contemporary organic synthesis techniques.
  • Experience in chromatography, crystallization, and other purification techniques.
  • Skilled in the characterization of organic compounds, especially by NMR and mass spectrometry.
  • Capable of independently evaluating synthetic routes and proactive troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work safely with potentially hazardous chemicals.
  • Highly skilled in practical and theoretical aspects of synthetic organic chemistry. Have strong understanding of reaction mechanisms and reactivity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to communicate scientific results at team discussions
