Description

Seeking a Liquid Chromatography expert to join PPG’s Global Analytical Network as a member of the chromatography team.  Responsibilities include development and implementation of analytical methods to help drive new product development, address customer problems, and support regulatory requests. The position will employ various liquid chromatography techniques for the identification and quantification of components in complex mixtures. The candidate will collaborate with experts in related analytical techniques to develop and implement solutions to multifaceted problems. The successful candidate will also be expected to support the technical development of other members of the chromatography team, assisting them with experimental design and implementation. Communicating technical findings is a key aspect of this role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety

    • Maintain a safe working environment

    • Drive method development, validation, and optimization

    • Interface with customers to solve problems and communicate findings

    • Deliver high quality results, conclusions, and recommendations

    • Maintain current knowledge of latest technological and scientific trends

  • Leadership

    • Advocate for the Chromatography Analytical group

    • Organize laboratory workflow to cultivate efficiency

    • Contribute to global teams as a technique expert

 

Functional/Technical Skills

  • A Ph.D. is required in Chemistry, polymer science, materials science, or related discipline

  • In-depth understanding of HPLC is required

  • Experience with Field Flow Fractionation (FFF) is desirable

  • Ability to develop and implement quantitative chromatography techniques in complex chemistries

  • Familiarity with complimentary analytical tools and their applications is desirable

  • Consistently deliver high-quality results that meet rigorous statistical analysis

  • Self-motivated problem solver who can manage projects with minimal supervision

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

    • Able to communicate effectively among all levels of the organization

    • Able to write reports, give presentations, and lead discussions

    • Able to work in a team as a contributor or leader

Experience/Education

Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related field. Industrial experience desirable, but not required.
