Experience and Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED, with some college sciences preferred.
  • Prior lab or spray experience is desired of at least 6 years.
 
Functional and Technical Skills:

  • Must be observant, accurate, detailed oriented, able to follow specific directions and maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Basic math skills and computer skills that involve Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of all testing procedures and able to perform and teach the testing being requested.
  • Data collection and input of test results experience, as well as, the ability to direct others to do the same.
  • Ability to work with others ranging from technicians, production associates, other department personnel and managers.

Success Factors/Functional Competencies:
  • Contribute in the development or revision of new/current test methodologies and procedures.
  • Must be able to assist in the writing of new test procedures or methods utilizing the proper terminology and approved format.
  • Be able to evaluate results of testing and decide or recommend a course of action for further testing if necessary.
  • Know what effects parameter changes will have on the finished product.
  • Be able to create a test matrix.
  • Oversee the completion of all final testing reports to be supplied to customer, including properly present all testing to customer either electronically or in person.
  • Have basic understanding of cause and effect relationships as it pertains to each product, and to understand level/function of resin and pigment components for each product.
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of the operation of coating equipment, its issues and its manipulations for better panel coating, and be able to teach this to less experienced technicians.
  • Assist in the testing of ideas for new product development, and to make test suggestions in order to achieve the results being tested for.
  • Contribute in the development of test matrices for each assigned project.
  • Work on projects with minimal direct guidance.
