Requirements
- Proficiency with:
- Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Database structures, theories, principles and practices in particular with data warehouse design
- ETL experience in design, mapping, configuration in complex environment processing large volumes of data
- SQL and experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server databases
- Development experience with :
- Java
- Shell scripts (PowerShell preferred)
- Proven knowledge of :
- Big Data concepts and the Hadoop ecosystem
- HDFS, Yarn, MapReduce, and Tez
- Proven hands on experience in:
- Hadoop technologies like Hive, Spark, Pig, Sqoop
- Managing job schedulers and to recover cleanly when jobs fail
- Effectively capturing, storing operational and technical metadata
- Implementing methods to enforce data quality standards
- Strong organizational skills
- Self-starter, ability to work unattended for periods at a time
- Good communication skills; verbal and written
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
- Proven ability and willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to change
- Shows ambition and desire to make things better for self and the team
- Work schedule covering Asia, EMEA and USCA (2:00pm to 10:30pm MY time)
- Ability to work during off business hours when there are production issues
- Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent
Good to have:
- Proven experience working with:
- Talend Open Studio and Big Data Platform
- Azure HDInsights and Data Lake Store or comparable platform
- Cloud platform and interfacing with on-premise data sources
- Data visualization platform such as Qlikview, Cognos, Power BI
- Windows and Linux operating systems
- ERP systems like Oracle EBS and / or SAP
- High level of aptitude in multi-threading and concurrency concepts
- Proven ability to improve performance through query optimization via the interpretation of generated query plans
- Ability and desire to grow into a data architect role that designs solutions and provides direction to other Big Data developers
