We are currently looking to recruit a Technical Sales Manager to develop and increase PPG business levels in external wall insulation (EWI). Within this role you will develop and build strong relationships with appliers and specifiers in order to secure long term business levels and partnerships within the EWI business, working in partnership with the wider commercial, specification and technical teams here at PPG.


This is a field based role developing the EWI Business nationally therefore significant travel is to be expected. The area to be covered will be from Sheffield up through the North of the UK and will require occasional trips to Scotland.

Key responsibilities in this role will include:-
  • Communicating PPG and EWI strategy to all customers and clients within the designated territory/ account base.
  • Identifying all viable sales opportunities, negotiating to obtain orders which meet sales and budget achievement in order to increase business turnover and profit.
  • Demonstrating competency in the technical aspects of the PPG EWI systems and able to produce full, detailed and accurate specifications within the constraints of the specification template and EWI policy.
  • Planning and carrying out visits to new and existing customers to maintain awareness of the company’s product range and to gain understanding of competitor activity within the market.
  • Assisting and supporting the Director of EWI wherever required on specific projects relating to the development and growth of PPG’s EWI business.
  • Representing PPG as required at industry specific or relevant conferences and events with a presence that clearly communicates our interest, understanding and credibility To liaise with PPG and external suppliers to co-ordinate supply chain to ensure deliveries are on site as agreed
  • Advising on future market and product development requirements.
  • Undertaking all administrative tasks in support of sales to meet the departmental requirements: including credit facilities, receivables and specific customer inventories.
  • Actively researching and feeding back competitor information for future strategic decision making

To be successful in this role you will:-
  • Be degree level educated or the equivalent with significant commercial sales experience in a trade environment.
  • Ideally have experience in the technical specification of products within a construction environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate a strong commercial awareness and ability to manage and deliver large sales and margin ledger/ targets.
  • Have the ability to communicate at all levels, being a competent negotiator and a strong team player.
  • Possess strong customer management and interpersonal skills.
  • Be PC literate and numerate with high levels of attention to detail.
  • Hold a full driving license and have a willingness to travel extensively.
