Business Development Manager- Building Products

As a Business Development Manager you will be responsible to grow PPG coating sales in the Midwest Region and manage existing Building Products customers. The Business Development Manager interfaces with all levels of PPG & customer organization with the objective of increasing PPG sales to the customer to ensure the financial objectives of the Industrial Coatings business are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and implement a plan to grow PPG sales at existing customers.
  • Interface with various customer personnel to promote PPG, gain approvals, and position PPG to be considered for new business in the US.
  • Communicate our customer’s needs to the various PPG functions and regions.
  • Mobilizes PPG resources to support customer factories during the launch process.
  • Identify, develop and implement a plan to obtain PPG specifications at architects and glaziers.
  • Monitor and track extrusion construction and renovation projects, growing PPG specifications and future sales.
  • Fully understand PPG’s product portfolio and benefits to ensure value selling.
  • Technical advisor and training on application of high performance two component coatings.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on the Coraflon ADS and BRP product systems.
  • Understand the competitive landscape, current gaps and anticipate future gaps to improve PPG’s market position.


  • Bachelor's Degree in business or engineering is preferred.
  • Prior 3-5 years sales experience is desirable.
  • Prior experience in coatings industry is highly preferred.
  • Domestic travel 50-75%; International travel 0-10%
  • Have, or willing to acquire, NACE Level 2 or SSPC Certified Protective Coatings Specialist Certification.
  • Communication skills: engaging all stakeholders, ranging from owners to applicators
  • Shows initiative in overcoming obstacles and innovation in selling methods.
  • Familiar with application equipment and problem solving
