Seeking an Analytical Chemist to join PPG’s Pittsburgh Analytical group as a member of the Elemental/Classical Wet team.  Responsibilities include assisting in the development and implementation of analytical methods and instrumentation to drive new product development, address customer problems, and support global laboratories. The position will utilize Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission, Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spec and Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence spectroscopy for the quantification of elemental components of organic, inorganic and complex mixture sample types. The candidate will assist in the collaboration with researchers and experts in related analytical techniques to develop and implement solutions to multifaceted problems. Communicating technical findings is a key aspect of this role. Ability to travel 0-20% is required.

Functional/Technical Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to learn analytical instrumentation

  • Attention to detail through careful sample preparation and instrument operation is critical

  • Proficiency to perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment

  • Understanding of Elemental techniques is preferred

  • Self-motivated problem solver who can manage projects with minimal supervision

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and cooperatively within all levels of the organization

  • Established ability to work in a team environment as a contributor



BS in Analytical Chemistry with 2-7 years of industrial analytical chemistry laboratory experience.
