PPG is seeking an Electrical Engineer at our Cleveland manufacturing plant in the production of automotive coatings. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing projects and initiatives involving power distribution design/modification, protection studies, and instrumentation and controls.


The ideal candidate for will have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and requisite experience as described below.

Essential Responsibilities Include:

  • Electrical engineering code compliant design/evaluation/specification to include 480VAC switchgear, MCC, power distribution panels, lighting panels, control panels, as well as, instrumentation and control.
  • Utilize and comply with applicable electrical and safety codes, and evaluate existing/vendor systems for compliance.
  • Define, requisition, and manage approved capital projects for new/expanded/modified facility equipment, including scope of work, cost estimates, vendor selection, bid package, capital requisition forms and related documents.
  • Create project related drawings in AutoCAD, as required, including one-line electric power, cable and conduit schedules, electrical control schematics. Experience drawing process schematics including process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams is beneficial.
  • Interact with clients and internal departments to determine project needs on a case by case basis.
  • Experience managing work (electricians) in Hazardous Classified locations, including work permitting, Lock Out Tag Out, Line Break, etc. as required.
  • Coordinate projects with multiple production departments.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with engineering analysis and design.
  • Experience with power distribution, equipment installation, control system design, substation modifications, and/or substation automation, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Project Management experience is preferred.
  • Computer literate - Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and AutoCAD.
  • Able to work long hours when required.

  • Excellent teamwork, with the ability to interact and support other functional areas of the company.
