Position is responsible for the planning and organizing of general accounting activities and includes supervisory oversight.  Specific responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:  supervision of general accounting team including setting goals for performance, organizing workflow, monitoring productivity, and providing constructive feedback and coaching; oversight of the journal entry process, account analysis process, and monthly accounting closing process; accounting and analysis for inter-company transactions; trend and deviation analysis; financial schedules; adherence to policies and procedures.


Proficiency required in the following areas: ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness; advanced PC skills (MS Excel, Word, Outlook); strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; demonstrated commitment to education and professional development; team player with focus on collaboration.


Requires Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with 6 years of related experience. The General Accounting Supervisor job is a first level supervisory role in the managerial track. The following are the characteristics of an incumbent at this level: • Work is primarily achieved through others, with direct accountability for setting direction and deploying resources • Responsible for people management, including performance evaluation and pay reviews and typically hire/fire decisions • Requires significant management skills, broad technical expertise, business knowledge and process and people leadership • Accountable for business, functional, operational processes and/or program management • Utilizes business acumen and knowledge of the business to influence others-directly and indirectly-to achieve results • Manages a team of three or more people delivering on an expected core capability of the management role.  The incumbent coordinates and supervises various accounting functions and is responsible for maintenance, accuracy and operation of various computer systems related to the accounting functions as well as the responsibility for assessing the adequacy of internal controls and implementing corrective actions where necessary. Highly effective organizational, supervisory and communication skills are essential as well as knowledge of PPG accounting systems.
