If you answered yes, then this may be the career challenge for you! PPG Protective and Marine Coatings (PMC) is now hiring a Global Product Manager for Passive Fire Protection portfolio. As a Global Product Manager, you will develop the global strategy for PMC’s entire intumescent passive fire protection (PFP) product range. You will own the existing and new product development (NPD) portfolios and manage product life cycles, optimize range complexity and support growth in priority segments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Global Product Strategy for cellulosic and hydrocarbon PFP application segments in alignment with the Protective Business Platform.
  • Orchestrate execution of global product line strategies within region, by providing governance and oversight to regional product managers.
  • Critical interface between R&D and commercial teams to drive alignment and set priorities.
  • Support segment managers during key customer interface discussions to assess needs from industry thought leaders and share critical product characteristics.
  • Own the global NPD portfolio by product category - drive cross-functional decisions for prioritization and resource commitment; manage/prioritize project choices.
  • Responsible to update all supporting documentation for products in respective categories, and implement management of change.
  • Develop and own product life cycle optimization portfolio (product launch to elimination). Coordinate closely with Commercial, Supply, Technical and Manufacturing. Compile global assessment of competitive product capabilities.
  • Make cross-functional connections and help drive global trade-offs as necessary to facilitate agility in meeting customer needs and delivering business results; empower regional teams as appropriate.
  • Final decision rights around system design w/ technical service.
  • Track %NPS & Total sales for full category range (annually).
  • Support business case for capital and resource investments within technology segment.


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, business, or related degree required.
  • At least 5 years of experience in product development, strategic marketing or product management. Experience within the fire protection coatings industry preferred.
  • Experience and exposure to global business dynamics and the ability to drive implementation of required activities across all regions.
  • Critical thinking and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in gathering and analyzing market intelligence; ability to assemble and organize multiple sources of intelligence into a clear market assessment.
  • Strong business and technical acumen demonstrating ability to define, develop and execute new opportunities.
  • Ability to translate/quantify data and other information and make reliable decisions on viable business prospect identification.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence without authority, in a matrixed environment (cross-functional, cross-regional, and cross-SBU), as well as effectively engage external customers at all levels.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly present recommendations and ideas to summarize complex issues.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
