As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you must have a comprehensive solid understanding of manufacturing systems, product design or related experience commensurate with the aircraft products manufacturing environment 

Key Responsibilities 

• This candidate is ultimately responsible for maintaining and improving the manufacturing capability and performance within manufacturing also jointly responsible for overall plant manufacturing performance in cooperative and collaborative efforts with the production engineering group. Leadership and management skills are critical in optimizing the performance of the human resources, materials, capital equipment and facilities within manufacturing. They must have the ability to manage multiple priorities, including the balance between activities required to meet the short term plant performance objectives associated with daily operations as well as longer term organizational/technical development needs.

• Develop and administer plant policy, interacting with the Plant Engineer, Director Human Resources and Product Managers to insure fair and consistent application of policy across all departmental and organizational boundaries.

• Aircraft products has established a key business objective of becoming a world class manufacturer of aircraft transparencies. The incumbent is a key driver of the FOCUS process and the fundamental change within the plant organizational culture commensurate with World Class performance. The incumbent is responsible for defining organizational and performance needs, identifying gaps in capability, defining improvement strategies, expectations and development plans.

• Technical responsibilities include the successful transition of new products into manufacturing, evolution of current products and process designs for improved manufacturability, oversight of the rate of change in technology via participation on the Engineering review board, program management for capital projects and interaction with other groups such as Development Engineering, Quality, PPG Glass Research, Aircraft Sales, external Customers and others. He/she must ensure that the organization is capable of providing effective technical support for suppliers and customers worldwide.

Qualifications

  • The position requires a college degree in an engineering or scientific field.
  • At least 10 years of experience within manufacturing, engineering or an equivalent environment.
  • Must have a proven high degree of leadership ability and technical competence.
