As the Plant Cost Accountant, this role will provide finance and accounting support to the Director, Finance and Regional General Manager, supporting safety, quality, cost and productivity goals.  The Cost accountant will support multiple Coatings Services facilities, working with plant personnel, external customers and other PPG Finance and Accounting professionals across many locations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide finance and accounting support to multiple Coatings Services facilities, including East Moline, IL; Ft. Wayne, IN; Franklin, GA; Portland, TN; Shelby Township, MI; and Waterloo, IA – support is primarily provided remotely, with minimal travel.
  • Month-end closing and analyses, forecasting and budgeting, account reconciliations, sales analyses, capital funding authorizations, and support of internal control processes
  • Assists in providing timely and accurate financial reporting information for the facility;
  • Monitors adherence to accounting policies and procedures to ensure a sound internal control environment;
  • Assists in the development of departmental budgets and profit plans;\
  • Prepares year-end financial schedules and assists in the observation and recording of annual physical inventories.
  • Support the 2020 finance systems conversion projects for locations noted above

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required
  • 3-5 years of related, accounting experience required.
  • Professional experience with Oracle is desired
  • Previous closing experience preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills a must.
  • High mathematical aptitude, time management and organizing skills.
  • High degree of personal integrity, initiative, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Minimal travel (>15%) is required
