The Production Planner Scheduler Supervisor is responsible for forecasting production and executing production scheduling to support the Oak Creek manufacturing plant. The Planner Scheduler analyzes safety stocks and planning modifiers to plan replenishment through the Springdale manufacturing facility and coordinate supply from other regions and vendors. The Supply Planner works to ensure the SBU’s ability to provide excellent product availability and superior customer service while also minimizing the working capital investment. 

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Utilize software to analyze forecasts to enable product manufacturing according to netted requirements.
  • Utilize software to interpret time-phased netted requirements to plan replenishment.
  • Work with PPG Sales Management and Marketing to coordinate new product launches and branding changes, development of S&OP forecasts, and address supply chain concerns.
  • Ensure that proper forecasting and manufacturing system parameters are set to deliver expected results.
  • Recommend strategic safety stocking levels and routings for products by comparing their inventory levels, sales trends, and ordering patterns, ensuring that inventory assets and manufacturing resources are leveraged properly.
  • Maintain and develop various tools and workbooks to provide information to support job objectives.
  • Identify and lead efforts to drive continuous improvement efforts in areas related to job function including reducing working capital and improving scheduling attainment.
  • Participate on cross-SBU teams as warranted to ensure acceptable service levels to customers.
  • Work closely with the Sales & Marketing and Regional Demand Management teams to develop a deep working knowledge of their supply chain needs.
  • Manage workload and tasks of planner/scheduler team who analyze specific recommendations for manufacturing and create batches for the plant to produce.
Experience and Education
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations, Supply Chain or technical field is required. MBA is a plus; APICS certification a plus; commitment to obtain APICS certification is needed in the absence of a current certification.
  • Prior Supply Chain experience is required with an understanding of demand and inventory planning.
  • The Supply Planner will have leadership and communication skills to lead a team of planner/schedulers as well as evoke action from a diverse group, many of whom do not have a direct reporting relationship to the incumbent.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with SBU leadership regarding supply chain issues, options, and reactions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including expertise in data import and export, function use, charting, and pivot table creation and manipulation.
  • Experience using Oracle EBS Process Manufacturing, Inventory, and Advanced Supply Chain Planning or similar ERP system.
