We are currently looking for Senior Chemist for our R&D, CIC Adhesives team
Specific Responsibilities:
- Responsible for transferring new products/technologies from concept to development, with an understanding of processing needs and requirements with scale-ups.
Evaluate competitive technologies, new raw materials and new processes
Responsible for managing assigned projects from idea proposal to prototype handover, with continued support post transfer to development.
Review Idea Proposal and perform feasibility study for new idea generation
Systematical experimentation using DOE and other statistical methods in evaluating data
Design and conduct experiments to identify criteria and countermeasures for new product development
Support and assist in problem solving exercises across teams
Contact raw material suppliers and identify potential new materials or technologies
Support conduct customer interactions in investigating Innovative solutions
Review and utilizes patent literature
Publish research proposals, monthly and quarterly project updates, attend seminars and conferences
Recommend and champion current as well as future solutions/products
Apply and interpret advanced analytical methods (rheology, spectroscopy, etc.) in project work would be preferred
Internal consultant to junior staff
Work across cross-functional teams across Research and Development.
Comply with EHS guidelines and work safely to comply with all PPG Policies.

BS, MS, or PhD. degree in Chemistry
Minimum of 7 years experiences in 1& 2 component thermoplastics, thermosets ideally for the automotive OEM market. Preferred familiarity of epoxy and polyurethane formulating experience.
Excellent oral communication, technical writing skills and presentation skills
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point or equivalent
Eager to be a participant in cross-functional teams spanning various chemistry and product platforms
Experience in DOE and other quality programs
Experience is sourcing and reviewing IP across Adhesive and Sealant landscape
Proven record of accomplishment of introducing new chemical concepts to formulation work, into the Automotive or Industrial arena.
